The 2022 Belmont Stakes will take place on Saturday, June 11 at 6:45 p.m. ET at Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y. The third jewel of the Triple Crown will feature a field of eight horses, including Kentucky Derby longshot winner Rich Strike.
Rich Strike, who drew the No. 4 post position and was tabbed with 7-2 morning-line odds, is not the betting favorite, though. That honor belongs to No. 1 We The People, who was made the 2-1 favorite after the post draw. We The People, who Flavien Prat will jockey, has three wins in four starts and is coming off a blowout victory in the Grade 3 Peter Pan Stakes on May 14 at Belmont Park.

The second choice in the odds is No. 6 Mo Donegal (5-2). Mo Donegal was last seen at the Kentucky Derby, where he was a trendy pick in a wide-open field. Mo Donegal finished fifth at Churchill Downs, 3 3/4 lengths behind Rich Strike.
After skipping the Preakness Stakes, Rich Strike is the third-favorite in the Belmont at 7-2 odds. He went off at 80-1 for his Churchill triumph, making him the second-biggest longshot to ever win the Kentucky Derby, behind only Donerail (+9145) back in 1913.
It will very interesting to monitor the betting appetite for Rich Strike come Saturday. In a field that lacks firepower, casual punters may end up backing the Kentucky Derby champion because he’s a familiar name. Still, there are going to be plenty of bettors who will try to beat Rich Strike chalking his Derby victory up to a wild fluke.
No. 5 Creative Minister is next on the board at 6-1 and coming off a third-place showing at the Preakness, behind Early Voting and Epicenter, neither of whom made the trip up I-95 for the Belmont. No. 3 Nest is the only other horse with single-digit odds at 8-1.
No. 2 Skippylongstocking and No. 7 Golden Glider are the two highest prices in the field, both at 20-1. Skippylongstocking drew some sleeper attention for the Preakness but finished fifth in the nine-horse field.
Betting on the Belmont Stakes 2022?
Outside of Rich Strike and Mo Donegal, No. 8 Barber Road (10-1) is the only other horse competing in the Belmont Stakes after running in the Kentucky Derby. No horse in the field has run all three races of the 2022 Triple Crown.
