Savannah Guthrie says husband working for Johnny Depp before interview with lawyers


“Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie interviewed Johnny Depp’s legal staff on Wednesday’s clearly show, moments following she revealed her husband is functioning as a guide for them.

Guthrie spoke with Depp’s lawyers, Camille Vasquez and Benjamin Chew, about the buzzy, volatile defamation trial, which pitted Depp against his ex-spouse Amber Heard.

“And a brief disclosure, my spouse has finished consulting function for the Depp authorized team, but not in link with this job interview,” Guthrie told viewers of the broadcast of the NBC Information early morning present.

Guthrie’s partner is Michael Feldman, a public relations advisor and former political advisor, who the moment worked for former Vice President Al Gore during his 2000 presidential campaign. Feldman, who works at pr business FGS World, declined to remark.

A rep for “Today” did not return requests for comment.

Depp sued the “Aquaman” actress for libel in Virginia’s Fairfax County Circuit Court soon after she wrote an op-ed in the Washington Write-up in 2018 referring to herself as a “public determine symbolizing domestic abuse.” The actor acknowledged for videos like “Edward Scissorhands” and “Donnie Brasco,” won the bombshell trial last week.

Last week on “Today,” Gurthrie also interviewed Elaine Bredehoft, a single of the attorneys who represented Listened to in the defamation scenario. She also anchored NBC News’ particular coverage of the trial when the jury arrived at its verdict on June 1.

The jury awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and yet another $5 million in punitive damages. Individuals damages were being lowered to $350,000 in accordance with Virginia law.
