Dodgers manager's pitching- change error causes delay


LOS ANGELES — Buck Showalter understood the rule, but the Dodgers ended up still left in the smog.

With his staff trailing the Mets by five operates after the eighth inning Saturday evening, Dodgers supervisor Dave Roberts attempted to insert outfielder Zach McKinstry into the game as a pitcher. MLB procedures say a group need to trail by at minimum six operates before a position player can pitch.

“I saved seeking up at the scoreboard and I assumed I experienced some thing mistaken,” Showalter stated immediately after the Mets’ 9-4 victory at Dodger Stadium. “I kept seeking up, going ‘Nine minus four is 5, appropriate?’ ”
