Steve Smith makes fake Giants coaching announcement

Steve Smith swerved the net on Thursday.

The former wideout for the Panthers and Ravens tweeted that he was “officially” joining the coaching staff of the New York Giants, and boasted that he’d scooped NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport on the news.

On the other hand, that does not seem to be accurate.

The team explained to The Post’s Paul Schwartz that Smith was at follow filming a movie, and that he is not truly signing up for their coaching staff.

Smith afterwards verified on Twitter that he was joking, producing in a tweet, “It’s Could but I unquestionably got you like it was April.” He claimed in a video accompanying the tweet that he still life in Charlotte.

“Haha, acquired all y’all. Hear, Agent 89 is not a mentor for the New York Giants,” Smith stated in the movie. “All you people that considered that was happening, gotcha!”

Smith, 43, hosts the “Cut To It” podcast on iHeartRadio and is a studio commentator for NFL Community.

Most likely on just one of his media platforms he will expose the rationale behind this ruse.

In a 16-time NFL job spanning from 2001 to 2016, Smith caught 1,031 balls for 14,731 yards and 81 touchdowns.
