Sissy Spacek on why filming 'Carrie' shower scene 'terrifying'

The legendary shower scene in Stephen King’s 1976 horror “Carrie” was bloody “terrifying” for a shy Sissy Spacek.

In an interview with the Unbiased, Spacek recalled how she built it as a result of the nude scene the place her likewise timid character, Carrie White, who unleashes telekinetic powers just after remaining embarrassed at promenade, washes off in the university locker room and discovers she’s started off her to start with period.

“It was terrifying. I’m also very shy, and I’m an introvert,” Spacek, now 72, claimed.

“I went to [director] Brian De Palma and stated: ‘Tell me about this scene, what is it like?’ And he turns to me and he claims: ‘It’s like obtaining hit by a Mack truck.’ ”

Coincidentally, Spacek’s partner, designer and art director Jack Fisk, had been hit by a truck, so the actress claimed she went dwelling and asked him for tips.

“So in that scene, what’s going on in my head is [Fisk] walking together the aspect of the highway when he was about 11 or 12. It is snowing, and he’s seeking at Christmas lights. And then he noticed car lights,” she reported.

“There was a automobile coming down the highway right at him, and it ran him more than. So, when Carrie’s in the shower, I’m viewing people Christmas lights, and then the horror of the blood,” she instructed the outlet, exhibiting an unsteady hand, just like in “Carrie.”

“Ain’t it weird that anything like that could do the job?”

Spacek experienced a amount of non-standard tips to get herself in the attitude of her outcast large college character. In a 1979 job interview with Rolling Stone, she told the magazine that she wore a raggedy sailor gown from her childhood for her audition. She did not brush her enamel and drenched her hair in Vaseline.
