The Targaryens have arrived, with fireplace and blood.
HBO has released the formal teaser trailer for its “Game of Thrones” prequel collection, “House of the Dragon.” Based mostly on the guide “Fire & Blood” by George R. R. Martin and set about 200 many years right before the situations of “Game of Thrones,” the demonstrate will star Matt Smith (“The Crown,” “Doctor Who”) and stick to the squabbling, silver-haired, and incestuous members of Property Targaryen, a k a Daenerys and Jon Snow’s ancestors. So, certainly, there will be dragons.
The trailer begins with an ominous voice narrating, “What is this short mortal everyday living, if not the pursuit of legacy?”
We then see photographs of a dragon flying over a town, and we get a title-fall of a Stark ancestor, Rickon, as he enters the throne area and bows to the king. At the commencing of this story, King Viserys (Paddy Considine) reigns when Princess Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) is his named heir. Prince Daemon (Matt Smith) is her uncle, looking shifty-eyed in the trailer.
A woman’s voice in the trailer suggests, “Men would sooner put the realm to the torch than see a lady ascend the iron throne.” So, there’s an attempt at feminism, but this is just squeezing lemon juice in the minimize for “Game of Thrones” followers who appreciated Daenerys — considering the fact that we know that even 200 yrs later, a lady is even now not on the throne, and alternatively, uninteresting Bran is. But, that’s neither in this article nor there.
The trailer also mentions politics as an “ugly game” to “win” and sets up the squabble for the throne, with lots of shots of darkish castle halls, sweeping seaside cityscapes and swords staying drawn — and of program, dragons and dragon eggs. So, it is leaning into a large amount of “Game of Thrones” themes and related visuals.
“History does not keep in mind blood, it remembers names,” the narrator concludes.
“House of the Dragon” will premiere on Aug. 21 on HBO Max.
