A famed Andy Warhol silkscreen of Marilyn Monroe offered for $170 million at a Christie’s charity auction Monday evening.

The piece was anticipated to make built record as the most high priced piece of American artwork ever sold but fell just quick.

Pablo Picasso’s 1955 painting “Les Femmes d’Alger (Model ‘O’)” holds that report and was marketed for $179.4 million in 2015.

The auction household estimated Warhol’s 1964 painting at $200 million in advance of the function.
