Wild brawl at Mets' minor league Binghamton Rumble Ponies game

This seemed like a scene out of the “MLB Slugfest” movie activity sequence.

In the course of a Binghamton Rumble Ponies (the Mets’ Double A affiliate) video game towards the Portland Sea Pet dogs (Crimson Sox), a wild brawl broke out following Portland’s Tyreque Reed was plunked with a pitch from Binghamton’s Marcel Renteria.

Just after the pitch arrived in and hit Reed on the wrist, he commenced to wander to very first base, but Renteria walked off the mound and the two appeared to exchange words and phrases. Then, Reed turned to the mound and charged it – throwing a hefty punch that knocked the pitcher to the floor.

The catcher tackled Reed and the benches cleared from there, causing an all-out brawl that lasted for quite a few moments.

According to Sports activities Illustrated, both Reed and third baseman Brett Baty ended up ejected from the game.
