Robin Roberts has discovered that she was concerned she would be outed if she interviewed former President Barack Obama on the subject of relationship equality back in 2012.
Roberts, 61, came out as component of the LGBTQ group in 2013 and has been in a romantic relationship with partner Amber Laign considering the fact that 2005.
The “Good Early morning America” anchor appears on Monday’s episode “The Ellen Demonstrate,” where she recalled the time the White Property rung her up for an interview with the Commander in Chief.
“There was a possibility that [he] would adjust his stance on marriage equality,” the ABC star stated to host Ellen DeGeneres, 64. “I had not been general public however about currently being homosexual, and I was afraid that I could be outed, that men and women may well question — ‘Why is she the one interviewing the president when he’s making this transform in his stance?’ ”
On the other hand, Roberts mentioned she later made a decision to get the gig and understood it was a significant possibility for her.

Roberts also disclosed to DeGeneres that she’s been an psychological “puddle” working with her lover Laign’s ongoing well being struggle. She announced on April 18 that Laign is suspending her breast cancer procedure for the time being due to “complications with the chemotherapy.”
The newscaster announced in February that Laign was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021 and underwent surgical procedure previously this 12 months.
