The James Madison College softball crew is mourning the dying of their star catcher, Lauren Bernett.
The university’s athletic office introduced the tragic information Tuesday, but did not checklist a bring about of demise for the 20-yr-old sophomore.
Bernett’s teammates shared heartfelt tributes on social media, which include Dukes infielder Jasmine Hall, who tweeted a video that showed the pair sitting down in a motor vehicle together, singing “The Truth” by Jason Aldean.
“Lauren, You have built this sort of a massive affect on this crew not only as a participant but as a particular person,” Hall tweeted. “I am so thankful that you were place in my daily life, and I will generally cherish the time I experienced with you on the subject and off the area. I appreciate you eternally and always. Fly higher sweet woman.”
Emily Phillips, a catcher and outfielder for the JMU softball staff, tweeted, “Words can not describe the friendship we had and how a lot it intended to me! You had my back again no issue the time of the working day. From us jamming to state tunes, late night roomie talks, to our catcher chats. I’m heading to miss you a lot more than just about anything. Alyssa Humphrey, a junior pitcher for the Dukes, tweeted a collage of pictures with Bernett, crafting, “Forever my most effective buddy. I like you endlessly LB,” with a white coronary heart emoji.
JMU softball’s house sequence in opposition to Delaware this weekend has been canceled, the staff tweeted Wednesday. A memorial site will keep on being established up at the JMU Softball Veterans Memorial Park entrance, in accordance to the school’s athletic office.
