Jennifer Grey says split from Matthew Broderick inspired Madonna song

Jennifer Gray is expressing herself in her new memoir, “Out of the Corner.”

The “Dirty Dancing” star, 62, revealed that her breakup with ex Matthew Broderick influenced Madonna’s strike 1989 song, “Express Your self.”

Gray and the Queen of Pop’s friendship goes back to the 1980s and they starred in the 1989 period of time flick, “Bloodhounds of Broadway,” with each other.

Madonna, 63, and the “Red Dawn” actress became these fantastic friends that the singer threw Grey a 29th birthday bash in March 1989.

Gray wrote that Madonna explained to her at the social gathering that her romantic relationship with Broderick motivated the catchy feminine-power tune.

Gray and Broderick, 60, had commenced dating while filming “Ferris Bueller’s Working day Off” in 1985 and had held their marriage semi-solution at the time.

Having said that, their love was thrust into the limelight in August 1987 when they were both involved in a tragic car or truck crash in Northern Ireland.

“She told me she wrote ‘Express Yourself’ about me breaking up with Matthew,” Grey recalled in her e-book.

“She performed it for me in her motor vehicle. I was in my log cabin with Johnny [Depp] and she claimed, ‘Come into my vehicle.’ And I got in her Mercedes wherever she experienced a seriously great audio process and she was like, ‘Listen to this tune I just did. It is about you,'” Grey included.

The “Dancing With the Stars” alum admitted that she contacted the “Vogue” crooner recently and brought up the track in an email.

Grey wrote that she strike up Madonna and questioned her in the concept, “‘Did you just notify that to everybody?'”

Gray also gave some perception into her new memoir earlier this week, producing on Instagram about an interview she did with the New York Times’ e-book part: “‘Out of the Corner’ is not all about regret, survival or reinvention. It is a funny, dishy, once in a while heartbreaking coming-of-age story.”

She ongoing, “Being misunderstood on a world-wide phase was very agonizing. I believe folks genuinely adore black-and-white pondering. I’m into gray I could not have a far better identify.”

The New York Town native has also been connected to Depp and actor Michael J. Fox. She married “Marvel” actor Clark Gregg in 2001 and they divorced in 2020.
